Celebrating Culture Through Storytelling and Art in Trujillo, Honduras

More than 100 Garifuna children came together for a joyful afternoon of cultural discovery and hands-on creativity. Through storytelling, traditional crafts, and artistic expression, they not only explored their roots but also strengthened their sense of identity and pride in their heritage.

During our interactive story time, we read Garifuna: A Culture and Its People, a beautifully illustrated book about two Garifuna children discovering their cultural heritage. The story sparked curiosity and connection, as many of the children saw themselves reflected in the vibrant images and themes. They eagerly asked questions, shared personal reflections, and offered ideas—turning the reading into a dynamic exchange rooted in learning, identity, and cultural pride

A heartfelt thank you to my family (Familia Sabio) and Cocopando for helping me make this amazing day happen! Thanks to your support, our young ones got to explore their Garifuna roots through art, stories, and have so much fun. We appreciate you!
